Scotch®, 7000058491, Tape, Electrical, Series: 2242, 5 yd Length, 0.75 in Width, 3 mil Thickness, Black, 1 in Diameter Core, Rubber Resin Adhesive, 6 V, 750 V/mil Dielectric Strength, 250 lb/in Tensile Strength, 100 deg F Maximum Operating
Scotch® Tape 2242 is a linerless 30 mil thick, general purpose, electrical rubber tape that's used for bus bar insulation and moisture sealing of cable ends. The high voltage, flame retardant tape ensures excellent tacking with its self fusing, ethylene propylene rubber resin adhesive. Scotch® Tape 2242 is used for terminating and splicing wires and cables as well as wire and cable jacket repair and maintains stability in temperatures up to 194 °F (90 °C) with a 600V maximum. This weather resistant tape has excellent physical and electrical properties and provides a moisture seal and void free buildups. The highly conformable tape has a flexible, rubber backing that resists UV rays, heat and flame. ASTM Approved and RoHS Compliant. Scotch® Linerless Rubber Splicing Tape 2242 should be applied in successive half-lapped level wound layers until desired buildup is reached. To eliminate voids in critical areas, highly elongate Scotch® Splicing Tape 2242. Stretch tape in these critical areas just short of the breaking point; doing so will not alter its physical or electrical properties. In less critical areas, less elongation may be used. Normally Scotch® Splicing Tape 2242 is stretched 3⁄4 of its original width in these critical areas. Always attempt to half-lap to produce a uniform buildup.
